Mentorship fosters holistic fitness, promoting internal health, mental well-being, and balanced lifestyle for optimal overall wellness.
Genetic testing offers insights, but athletic performance results from genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors. It’s just one tool among many in an athlete’s toolkit, complementing physical fitness testing, coaching expertise, and personal goals.
Overall, DNA testing has become increasingly accessible and is used in various fields, including medicine, forensics, anthropology, and genealogy, to provide valuable insights into human genetics and biology.
Genetic fitness testing is evolving, and evidence linking genetics to performance is dynamic. Interpret results with professionals like genetic counselors or sports scientists to make informed decisions on training and performance strategies. Test include:
Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS):
Provides comprehensive analysis of genetic variations impacting health and performance.
Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS):
Offers a detailed examination of the entire genome for insights into health, vitality, and genetic predispositions.
Whole Exome Sequencing (WES):
Focuses on protein-coding regions of the genome, offering insights into genetic factors affecting health and athletic performance.
Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR):
Used for targeted analysis of specific genes associated with health, vitality, and elite performance.
Microarray Analysis:
Screens for genetic variations associated with various health conditions, vitality markers, and performance-related genes.
This is our process.
The process begins with collecting a biological sample from the individual, typically through a saliva sample, buccal swab (swabbing the inside of the cheek), or blood sample.
Once the sample is collected, DNA is extracted from the cells within the sample. This is usually done using specialized laboratory techniques to isolate the DNA from other cellular components.
The extracted DNA is then analyzed using various methods depending on the purpose of the testing. Common techniques include PCR (polymerase chain reaction), sequencing, and microarray analysis.
The data obtained from the DNA analysis is interpreted to provide information about specific genetic variations, such as single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs), insertions, deletions, or gene mutations.
Finally, the results of the DNA analysis are compiled into a report that provides information about the individual’s genetic ancestry, potential health risks, carrier status for certain genetic conditions, or other traits of interest.
